Teel Auctions to Sell Heart-Shaped Tub on Valentine’s Day; Sale Will Benefit Cancer Research

Robert C. Teel and Heart Shaped Tub

MT. BETHEL, Pa. — Still searching for that perfect Valentine’s Day gift? How about an authentic heart-shaped tub from a Pocono resort?

Teel Auctions will offer the 2-person, 80-inch tub at 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, at Teel Auction Gallery, 1101 Allegheny Road, Mt. Bethel, Pa. Bidders can participate in person or online by visiting live.teelauctions.com. Proceeds from the sale of the hot tub will be donated to the American Cancer Society. The tub is owned by a donor who wishes to remain anonymous.

“This is a fun item to sell but one that’s very meaningful,” Teel Auctions president Robert C. Teel said. Teel is a cancer survivor who routinely leads charitable auctions in the tri-state region.

Teel Auctions has regularly offered unusual items from Poconos resorts, and conducted sales of many of the former resorts. In 2005 Teel Auctions sold the contents of Mt. Airy Lodge as it converted from a resort to a casino. A highlight of that sale was more than 20 heart-shaped tubs. The sale drew more than 5,000 registrants and bidders from across the country. “Surprisingly, most successful bidders for the tubs said they planned to put them outside as aquatic gardens,” Teel said.

Teel Auctions is a full-service, family owned firm led by Robert C. Teel. The February 14 sale is an all-day sale of furniture, antiques, collectibles, office supplies and more. Learn more at www.teelauctions.com.
